The role of standardized tracking procedures in inequality of opportunity in the transition from primary to secondary education

The aim of the project is to understand the role of standardized tracking procedures in inequality of opportunity by social background, across the transition from primary to secondary education. The effects of standardization of educational procedures on inequalities by social background is well documented. However, it is also crucial to understand the mechanisms behind this relationship. This project aims to bring a perspective of educational aspirations and cultural gap (i.e.home-school distance perceived by the students) in terms of explaining inequalities by social background.

This project is carried out by Ayça Alayli as a PhD project and is funded by AMCIS.
